Meaning for ‘in transit to next facility’:

In transit to next facility – Postage was sent from a source place of USPS but it still does not reach the next destination. This will return to another distribution center from the USPS delivery center and will be scanned again.

In detail sorting occurs at starting location and again is sorted in another location, known as “in transit”.

Next facility is nothing but the Next destination\medium distribution center.

For Example:

Think that you have sent a parcel to your friend in USPS. Now USPS take your parcel for the origin distribution center to destination\medium distribution center via truck or any other transport mode. Make clear that your parcel is in transportation and it is not reach the destination center. So in this time your parcel is not scanned in the destination center because it not reached still. At this time your status will be shown as ‘In transit’. 

If it reached the medium or destination place then that time they will scan the parcel and update the status in the portal. And that can be visible to you or to your friend when you track it.

  • Delay in transportation due to heavy traffic or any climatic changes.
  • May be delay of truck due to natural disaster.
  • It reached the destination place but due to n number of delivery your parcel get delayed to scan.
  • May be the destination place is not clear they are try to find it still.
